Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will work alongside an external HR consultancy and manage one direct report. This is a broad position requiring someone who can operate strategically while remaining close to the detail.
You will:
• Develop and implement a scalable People and Culture framework across multiple sites
• Take the lead on recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning
• Establish consistent HR policies, systems and processes as the business develops from a start up into a more structured organisation
• Lead annual performance reviews, salary reviews and performance management processes
• Develop training plans, competency frameworks and career development opportunities
• Coach managers and strengthen leadership capability across the business
• Lead employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, absence management and dismissals
• Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation and HR best practice
• Maintain employee records, policies and documentation through the Breathe HR system
• Monitor employee engagement, wellbeing, retention, absence and performance data
• Manage relationships with external HR advisors, training providers and employment specialists
• Support succession planning, organisational development and cultural improvement
• Help create a professional, inclusive and high performing workplace while preserving the agility of a growing business
The ideal People & Culture Manager will possess the following attributes and skills:
• CIPD Level 5 qualification or above
• Proven experience in a senior standalone or generalist HR position within a fast paced, growing organisation
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
• Experience supporting operational, engineering, industrial, manufacturing, construction, energy or similar site based environments
• Experience working across multiple sites or with field based teams
• Strong knowledge of the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training and employee relations
• Confidence handling complex and sensitive employee relations matters
• The ability to balance legal compliance with pragmatic and commercially considered decision making
• Experience improving HR systems, policies and processes
• Strong communication skills with the credibility to advise and influence senior managers
• A proactive, organised and solutions focused approach
• The confidence to work independently and take ownership of the people agenda
This is an excellent opportunity for a People & Culture Manager to join an ambitious renewable energy business at an important stage of its development. You will have the autonomy to shape the HR function, introduce best practice and help establish the business as a genuine people company. The role offers significant scope to influence culture, leadership, training and organisational development as the company continues to grow.
