As a People Operations Partner within Breedon GB you will be based out of our Uddingston office near Glasgow and will be responsible for delivering consistent, high-quality HR support to managers and employees across the south of Scotland. This is a hands-on role, where you will play a key part in keeping people processes running consistently and effectively, while supporting managers to build on their capability to lead their teams.
You will be a trusted advisor who will have a detailed understanding of the different business areas you support while providing a creative approach to HR. You will thrive on implementing pragmatic HR solutions which work in the real world and are not just theory.  
There will also be requirements for you to support activity outside of the region you cover on occasions, therefore flexibility is essential for both travel and working hours, across the UK, which may require overnight accommodation on occasion.
About Breedon Breedon Group plc is a FTSE 250 construction materials group in Great Britain, Ireland and the United States employing around 4,800 people. It operates two cement plants and an extensive network of quarries, asphalt plants and ready-mixed concrete plants, together with slate production, concrete and clay products manufacturing, contract surfacing and highway maintenance operations.  

Key Responsibilities

A full role profile is attached however, below is an overview of the key responsibilities.
  • Manage day-to-day Employee Relations cases including Absence, Disciplinary, Grievance, Performance and Flexible working.
  • Oversee recruitment & onboarding by keeping recruitment moving, e.g. develop job descriptions, adverts, review CV’s and supporting interviews where necessary.
  • Support & coach managers with performance & development to enable them to complete reviews and carrying out performance processes effectively. 
  • Provide hands-on support during restructures and reorganisations.
  • Act as the first point of contact for people queries.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being close to the detail and takes pride in delivering a reliable, consistent service:
  • Ability to demonstrate previous operational HR experience, ideally having been gained within a multi-site or regional setting and be capable of working in a high change environment. 
  • Strong employee relations knowledge and confidence handling casework.
  • Good understanding of UK employment law, best practices and HR processes.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Practical, solution-focused and responsive.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with managers across multiple sites.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support and guide managers.
  • CIPD qualified is desirable but not essential.
  • Full driving license valid for UK is essential.
