£28,000 – £32,000 a year
Manchester · Part Time
Injured people come to us when they need more than paperwork. They need lawyers who can stay on the case. This role protects that time. You will run the day around a senior fee earner so hearings, client calls and settlement work happen on purpose, not by scramble. Done well, your judgement is felt in every file that moves and every client who is not left waiting.
Performance Objectives- Keep the diary conflict-free so hearings, medical appointments and client calls are confirmed, briefed and attended on time.
- Clear inbound email and calls each day, resolving what you can and escalating only decisions that need a lawyer.
- Issue accurate correspondence and meeting packs so external contacts meet our client-care standard first time.
- Close actions from meetings within the agreed date, chasing owners until the task is done or formally reassigned.
- Maintain confidential files so medical, financial and case material is filed correctly and retrievable without delay.
- Route work once across secretarial, costs, compliance and operations, cutting repeat chases.
- Improve one repeat admin process each quarter, with a visible drop in errors or turnaround time.
You will report to a senior fee earner and work with secretarial, operations, compliance and training colleagues. You will use our case management system, Microsoft 365 and the firm learning platform. Travel, couriers and reasonable ad-hoc spend sit within agreed limits. Training plans and a personal learning budget are available from the start.
Essential Qualifications- Proven personal assistant or senior administrative experience in law or another client-facing professional service.
- A track record of running a complex diary, travel and confidential correspondence at pace.
- Clear written English and sound judgement about what a vulnerable client should hear, and when.
- Confident use of document and case systems, with Microsoft 365 used daily.
- Discretion with sensitive medical and financial information.
- Evidence you can prioritise when several urgent matters compete.
- Support roles are treated as essential: fee earners are freed to do the legal work clients need.
- Learning is personal, covering technical skill, client care and how you lead your own day.
- Support staff can grow in place or move into coordination and specialist paths.
- The work is genuine claimant injury practice, including cases other firms decline.
- A growing national practice that invests in people at every level, not only qualified lawyers.
If you want your organisation to give lawyers back the hours their clients need, apply now. Tell us about a day you kept moving when the diary did not.
