Personal Development Mentor

Prospero Teaching is recruiting Youth Progression Mentors to support young people who are currently out of education across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP).

This is a rewarding opportunity to work on a 1:1 basis with young people who may be experiencing barriers to education due to social, emotional or behavioural needs. As a Youth Progression Mentor, you will help young people build confidence, develop essential life skills and work towards positive outcomes, including re-engaging with education, training or employment.

Every young person is different, so you'll tailor your approach to meet individual needs, providing encouragement, consistency and practical support to help them achieve their goals.

• Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 mentoring sessions.
• Build positive, professional relationships that encourage trust and engagement.
• Support young people to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
• Help develop life, functional and employability skills.
• Encourage progression into education, training, apprenticeships or employment where appropriate.
• Identify barriers to learning and work with young people to overcome them.
• Complete accurate session records, progress reports and feedback following each session.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional conduct at all times.
• Liaise with local authorities, education providers and other professionals where required.

To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must:

• Have the Right to Work in the UK.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
• Provide two professional references relating to work with children or young people.
• Have at least one year's experience supporting children or young people.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is highly desirable due to travel across the BCP area.
