Aatom Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Pest Control Officer to work on behalf of a local authority within their Facilities & Environment team on a 3-month rolling contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified pest control professional to join a busy environmental services team, helping to protect public health and maintain high environmental standards across Westminster.
Essential Requirements
- RIPHH Level 3 Qualification in Pest Control
- Proven operational experience in pest control
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Experience maintaining accurate records and reports
- Understanding of health and safety procedures and safe working practices
About the Role
You will be responsible for helping the Council discharge its statutory obligations under the Public Health Act 1936 and the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949, ensuring that Westminster is kept free from rats, mice and other pest infestations.
The role involves carrying out inspections, surveys, treatments and enforcement activities across the borough while delivering a professional, customer-focused service to residents, businesses and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Investigate pest control complaints and service requests.
Carry out inspections and surveys of residential, commercial and public premises.
Identify infestations and determine appropriate treatment programmes.
Deliver pest control treatments using approved methods and equipment.
Advise residents, businesses and council staff on pest prevention measures.
Undertake block treatment and sewer baiting programmes.
Prepare reports following inspections, investigations and site visits.
Maintain accurate electronic and written records of all work undertaken.
Monitor and record pesticide usage and equipment stock levels.
Serve statutory notices where required under relevant legislation.
Collect and dispose of clinical waste in accordance with procedures.
Carry out decontamination of premises and articles contaminated with blood and bodily fluids.
Support the delivery of the contracted incontinent laundry service.
Ensure the proper use, maintenance and care of council-issued vehicles, equipment and mobile devices.
Participate in the emergency call-out rota outside normal working hours when required.
Liaise with council departments, contractors and external agencies as necessary.
Deliver services in accordance with council policies, procedures and performance targets.
Experience Required
Operational pest control experience within a local authority or similar environment.
Experience coordinating workloads and managing scheduled programmes of work.
Experience conducting inspections, surveys and treatment programmes.
Experience using IT systems and mobile technology for record keeping and reporting.
Experience preparing clear reports and maintaining case records.
Experience delivering customer-focused services.
