Planner / Scheduler / Draughtsman

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–5:00pm, Friday 8:00am–1:00pm

We are recruiting for an experienced Planner / Scheduler / Draughtsman to join our client’s manufacturing team based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Draughtsman with a strong background in fabrication and manufacturing drawings who is looking to develop their career within a busy production environment.

The Role

As a Planner / Scheduler / Draughtsman, you will be responsible for producing accurate drawings, supporting production and coordinating materials and manufacturing requirements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Using 2D AutoCAD and 3D Inventor to create accurate technical designs.
• Producing and issuing manufacturing drawings and General Arrangement (GA) drawings to support production.
• Creating reverse engineering drawings in line with project specifications.
• Managing material orders through the company’s ERP system.
• Raising production files and documentation for manufacturing.
• Using Pronest or similar profiling software.
• Working closely with production and other departments to ensure projects run smoothly.
• Communicating with colleagues and customers to resolve queries, complaints and concerns efficiently.
• Supporting continuous improvement within the production environment.
• Assisting with planning and scheduling requirements where required.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least 3 years’ experience working as a Draughtsman within a relevant engineering, fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Strong AutoCAD skills and experience producing fabrication/manufacturing drawings.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A good understanding of health and safety within a production environment.
• The ability to work effectively with production teams, colleagues and customers.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

The following would be desirable but are not essential:

• Experience using Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience with Chrome Carbide Clad Plate.
• Experience using Pronest or similar profiling software.
• Previous planning or scheduling experience.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering.
