The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Area Planner to join a major infrastructure programme during a critical phase of delivery. Supporting a large scale, nationally significant project, you will work closely with senior delivery teams to drive planning excellence, provide strategic schedule oversight, and ensure alignment between project controls, reporting, and delivery objectives.
This role is ideal for an experienced planner who has worked across full project lifecycles and enjoys operating at both strategic and operational levels. You will be part of a highly collaborative team environment, influencing key project decisions while contributing to the successful delivery of a complex and highly regulated programme.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Driving an area-based planning framework that integrates reporting requirements and project interdependencies.
- Developing and maintaining integrated work schedules with fully logic linked work plans aligned to project breakdown structures
- Supporting project leadership teams in assessing risks and opportunities through evidence-based planning analysis and reporting.
- Reviewing and challenging delivery performance and schedule reporting to improve project outcomes.
- Producing accurate and timely planning and schedule reports for key stakeholders.
- Supporting the development and optimisation of project baseline schedules and delivery sequences.
- Capturing and sharing lessons learned to drive continuous improvement within the planning function.
- Analysing project information to identify trends, risks and opportunities that support informed decision making.
- Collaborating with internal teams, contractors and supply chain partners to achieve successful project delivery
- Managing schedule trends and changing processes, producing performance indicators and identifying areas of risk and opportunity.
- Integrating supplier schedules and planning information into the overall programme.
- Ensuring project scheduling standards, governance and procedures are consistently applied.
- Maintaining compliance with project documentation and information management requirements.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable planning experience gained within complex and highly regulated industries.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing planning integration across large projects.
- A strong understanding of integrated planning frameworks and project controls methodologies.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining schedules on major infrastructure or capital projects.
- Advanced knowledge of planning and project controls software.
- The ability to analyse complex information and provide strategic planning insight to support delivery teams.
- Experience supporting projects through significant stages of the project lifecycle.
It’s great if you also have the following
- Experience within the nuclear sector.
- Experience working in the energy, utilities, defence, rail or wider infrastructure sectors.
- Experience supporting major, multi-billion-pound infrastructure programmes.
- Knowledge of enterprise level project controls and reporting environments.
- Professional project management or planning qualifications.
- Experience driving planning improvements, best practice and process enhancements.
