Turner Lovell
Planning Manager - Energy Infrastructure
Location: Hybrid with UK-wide travel to offices and projects across London, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow and other UK sites
Salary: £80,000 to £95,000 plus bonus and car.
Turner Lovell is recruiting for an experienced Planning Manager to join a fast-growing EPC contractor delivering major grid connection, transmission and battery storage infrastructure projects across the UK.
This is not just a technical planning role. We are looking for a true people manager - someone who can lead, coach and develop a team of planners, bring structure and consistency across live projects, and confidently represent planning at senior level.
You will take ownership of planning across a portfolio of complex projects, supporting project teams, challenging data, improving reporting and making sure programmes are realistic, accurate and commercially useful.
The role will suit someone with personality, drive and presence. You will need to be visible across the business, regularly travelling to offices and project locations across the UK, including London, Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading and developing a team of planners across multiple live projects
- Driving consistency in planning, programme control and reporting
- Supporting project teams with programme reviews, risks, milestones and change
- Challenging project data and making sure reports are accurate and useful
- Working closely with project managers, commercial teams, clients and supply chain partners
- Attending senior project and client meetings as the planning lead
- Improving planning processes, tools and ways of working across the business
What we are looking for:
We are interested in speaking with Planning Managers, Lead Planners or Senior Planning professionals who have stepped into team leadership and can show a strong track record of delivering across complex projects.
You will ideally bring experience from one or more of the following sectors:
- Electricity transmission and distribution
- HV substations, grid connections or power infrastructure
- Renewables, BESS or energy projects
- Major construction, utilities or infrastructure
- EPC or main contractor environments
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Strong planning and scheduling experience across live construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience leading, managing or mentoring planners
- Confidence dealing with project teams, clients and senior stakeholders
- Strong understanding of programme risk, change control and reporting
- A proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused approach
- Willingness to travel regularly across UK offices and project sites
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to play a key role in building planning capability within a growing EPC business at the centre of the UK energy transition.
