Are you a Maintenance Fitter with experience working on plant, forklift trucks or heavy mechanical equipment?

We’re recruiting for a Plant Maintenance Fitter to join a busy industrial operation, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of mobile and fixed plant equipment.

This would suit someone from a plant, FLT, recycling, quarrying, manufacturing, agricultural or heavy engineering background who is comfortable getting hands-on with mechanical repairs, servicing and basic fabrication.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for keeping plant and equipment safe, reliable and operational.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planned preventative maintenance and servicing
  • Reactive mechanical breakdowns and repairs
  • Maintenance of forklifts, mobile plant and site equipment
  • Fault finding on hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Working on bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts and drive systems
  • Basic welding and fabrication
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records

About You

You’ll ideally have experience with:

  • Mechanical fault finding
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Engines and drive systems
  • Bearings, gearboxes and conveyors
  • Forklift trucks or mobile plant
  • Reading mechanical drawings

Qualifications

Ideally you’ll hold one of the following:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering / Maintenance
  • Time-served Apprenticeship
  • Strong practical experience will also be considered.
