Plant Maintenance Engineer

Full‑time | Monday-Friday | 08:00-17:00 |

Salary £35,000 - £42,000 + Overtime & excellent benefits

We are proud to be working with a long‑established, family‑run engineering business is looking for a Plant Maintenance Engineer to join their close‑knit team. You'll be working with heavy plant and industrial equipment used across construction and production environments, supporting both workshop and site‑based operations.







The Role

You will carry out maintenance, servicing and repairs on a wide range of plant machinery and industrial equipment - including crushers, screens and other heavy kit. Your work will include diagnostics, inspections, reporting defects, and delivering proactive solutions to maximise uptime. You'll also support pre‑hire inspections, pre‑delivery checks and PDIs.







Key Responsibilities



This is a very hands on role in a busy workshop where you will be working on your own and as part of a small team. A typical day will consist of the following





  • Identify plant issues and deliver proactive maintenance to increase up time
  • Work as part of a busy workshop team, both on site and in the workshop
  • Demonstrate safe working practices at all times
  • Brief operators on issues causing damage or wear
  • Promote best practice in equipment operation and repair
  • Uphold rigorous Health & Safety standards for yourself and others
  • Follow and comply with all processes
  • Provide effective solutions to plant problems
  • Support development of maintenance processes
  • Communicate professionally with operators and site management
  • Deliver in‑house training when required
  • Complete risk assessments and method statements
  • Work with managers to organise repairs and minimise downtime
  • Investigate repairs and provide effective solutions
  • Use tools and diagnostic equipment correctly and safely
  • Carry out fabrications and bespoke repairs
  • Support general upkeep of plant and equipment
  • Undertake additional duties as required






Competencies & Experience

  • A full driving licence with a maximum of 6 points
  • City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Plant or Vehicle Maintenance or apprenticeship trained
  • Strong knowledge of plant and machinery
  • Ability to use cutting equipment and welding
  • Able to work independently and use own initiative
  • Good communication skills
