Commencing in August 2026 this fixed term contract role will continue until November 2027.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
- Support the nurturing of a work culture that fosters growth, trust, honesty, empowerment and mutual respect and the development of peers
- To maintain a safe working environment and actively support the continuing development of a health, safety and environmental culture.
- To support manufacturing using a lean manufacturing philosophy and the Autoneum Production System (APS) to aid value add improvement across their allotted production cells. Maintaining suitable levels of quality and productivity.
- To ensure that all process documentation is readily available for all products and up to date; accurate for IATF accreditation and other related audits.
- Liaise with CBU Sales, PML and external customers and suppliers with the introduction of new products or tooling, managing associated engineering change processes (ECI’s) with customers and tooling specialists.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The delivery of Process Engineering services within the organisation to deliver the required business performance and customer satisfaction for new products.
- To work within the requirements of IATF16949, ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO 50001.
- To organise trials for new product introduction and Engineering Changes (ECI), create supporting PPAP documentation, set up and develop cells, and review process layouts, working closely with Programme Management, PML, Production, Quality and Planning.
- To monitor process performance and resolve concerns through Root Cause Analysis and other techniques to drive manufacturing performance.
- To create and maintain a safe working environment within manufacturing processes.
- To support the creation of P-FMEA, Product Specifications and Standard Work Sheets, Flow Charts within Document Control requirements.
- Ensure all documentation, including Bill of Materials, Routing Lists, etc are set up and correct in the ERP system.
- To establish and measure optimal process parameters, to understand, quantify and eliminate/reduce waste.
- To actively assist in the training of operatives on new processes and products with the support of the relevant plant teams.
- Achieve process CPK to meet and satisfy customer expectations.
- To minimise energy usage associated with all production processes you are assigned to.
- Co-operate with regard to the implementation and observation of EHS requirements when made aware of them.
- Ensure that accidents and incidents are reported and participate fully as required in the investigation and implementation of any follow-up actions to prevent a recurrence.
JOB HOLDERS PROFILE / SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a team player who is flexible and supportive of others, and confident dealing with key stakeholders at all levels (internal and external).
- Ability to work under pressure and make sound judgment and decision.
- Well organised with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Demonstrates personal ownership for tasks and sees these through to completion, paying exceptional attention to detail.
- Automotive background in 1st / 2nd tier supply; working with and understanding of automotive manufacturers’ practices.
- Knowledge and practice of Lean Manufacturing techniques and tools, such as 5S, Standardised Work, Poke Yoke, JIT etc.
- Strong customer focus.
- Experience in new part introduction, pre-series preparation including BoM and routing creation.
- Project management skills desirable.
- Understanding and experience of working to ISO14001, ISO45001, IATF16949 standards.
- Knowledge and experience of SAP or other ERP system desirable.
- Educated to a minimum of HNC level in an engineering discipline
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an operational role within Production / Manufacturing Engineering.
You will need to have experience in a similar role gained from working in a Tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry together with excellent IT and communication skills.
