Plant Opperative Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Plant Attendant / Plant Operator to join the Operations & Maintenance team at an Energy from Waste facility in Slough.
Working within a continuous process environment, you will support the safe and efficient operation of the facility, helping maintain plant performance, availability and reliability while ensuring compliance with HSE and environmental requirements.
Plant Operative Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor plant systems including combustion, boiler and flue gas treatment equipment.
- Monitor plant conditions including temperatures, pressures, emissions and process performance.
- Carry out routine plant inspections, walk-downs and operational logging.
- Identify and report plant defects, abnormal conditions and equipment issues.
- Carry out first-line maintenance and basic fault finding where required.
- Respond appropriately to plant alarms, process deviations and operational issues.
- Support planned maintenance, shutdowns and plant outages.
- Ensure operations remain compliant with HSE procedures and Environmental Permit conditions.
- Maintain accurate operational records and communicate plant issues effectively with the wider O&M team.
Plant Operative Background
- Previous experience within Energy from Waste, power generation or a similar heavy industrial/process environment.
- Experience working within a shift-based, continuous process plant.
- Understanding of combustion, boilers, steam systems and/or flue gas treatment would be advantageous.
- Experience using DCS/control systems and monitoring plant performance.
- Practical fault-finding and first-line maintenance capability.
- Strong understanding of HSE, safe systems of work and environmental compliance.
- Engineering/process qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent is desirable.
- IOSH or other relevant HSE training would be beneficial.
- Willingness to undertake additional plant-specific training.
