Platform Engineer
Avanti Recruitment
Platform Engineer
Remote | Permanent
We’re working with a growing software business looking for a Platform Engineer to help run and improve the AWS and Kubernetes platform behind its SaaS product.
Its market-leading software helps organisations manage information security, data privacy and regulatory compliance. With customers across more than 100 countries, the business is continuing to invest in both the product and the infrastructure supporting it.
You’ll join a small, collaborative engineering team, working alongside experienced engineers, sharing ideas and contributing to technical decisions. Alongside the day-to-day platform work, you’ll take responsibility for infrastructure projects from planning through to delivery.
The Role
The platform combines modern cloud technologies with established infrastructure. You’ll help keep production services running reliably while modernising existing systems and delivering improvements to support the company’s next stage of growth.
There’s plenty here for someone who enjoys understanding how systems work, investigating problems and making things better, rather than simply keeping everything ticking over.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and maintaining AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
- Operating and improving production Kubernetes environments.
- Supporting platform reliability, performance and security.
- Investigating production issues and carrying out structured root cause analysis.
- Delivering infrastructure projects from design through to implementation.
- Working closely with software engineers to support new features and platform improvements.
- Taking part in an on-call rota alongside the wider infrastructure team.
About You
You’ll have experience working with production cloud platforms and enjoy working as part of a team. You’ll be comfortable contributing to technical discussions, supporting colleagues and taking the lead on infrastructure projects.
We’re particularly interested in experience with:
- AWS and cloud infrastructure.
- Kubernetes in production, Helm and containerised applications.
- Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Monitoring and observability tools.
- Diagnosing and resolving production issues.
- Git as part of a collaborative development process.
Experience with Linux, Bash or Python scripting, Amazon EKS, MySQL, disaster recovery or security-focused environments would be an advantage. AWS or Kubernetes certifications are welcome, but practical experience carries far more weight than formal qualifications.
The Team
How you work with people matters as much as your technical knowledge. The team is looking for someone who shares what they know, asks questions and is open to discussing different approaches.
You’ll need to be happy working through problems with others, contributing your own ideas and learning from colleagues. Equally, you should have the confidence to take ownership and lead a project when needed.
It’s a supportive, low-ego environment where engineers work together rather than in isolation, with a shared focus on building secure, reliable systems that will last.
What’s On Offer
You’ll be joining a business in one of the fastest-growing areas of enterprise software, with the opportunity to make a visible difference to its cloud platform. Good ideas are encouraged, and the team supports ongoing learning and development.
The package includes:
- Remote-first working with optional office access.
- 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service.
- Company pension.
- Employee benefits scheme.
- Ongoing learning and professional development.
- Regular company events and collaborative team meet-ups.
This would suit an engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, wants to work closely with experienced colleagues and would like a say in how a growing cloud platform develops.
