How you’ll spend your day
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Platform Operations professional to lead a high-performing operations function supporting business-critical platforms and cloud services. You'll take ownership of operational excellence, ensuring services remain secure, resilient and highly available while driving continuous improvement across people, processes and technology.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading and developing the Platform Operations function, providing day-to-day leadership across platform and application support teams.
- Overseeing the delivery of operational services, ensuring platforms remain secure, stable and available.
- Owning Incident, Major Incident, Change and Problem Management processes, ensuring issues are prioritised, communicated and resolved effectively.
- Driving operational excellence by establishing and continually improving processes, governance, documentation and service standards.
- Managing the Platform Operations roadmap, aligning operational priorities with wider technology, security and product strategies.
- Working closely with Engineering, Security and business stakeholders to coordinate releases, operational readiness and platform improvements.
- Leading resilience initiatives including disaster recovery planning, maintenance activities and operational risk management.
- Managing supplier relationships, licensing, technology costs and service performance to maximise value and operational effectiveness.
- Monitoring service levels, operational KPIs and team performance while identifying opportunities for continual improvement.
- Providing leadership during major incidents and supporting out-of-hours operational activities when required.
What you’ll bring to this role
We're looking for an experienced Platform Operations leader with a passion for delivering reliable, secure and customer-focused technology services. You'll be comfortable leading operational teams, managing business-critical environments and driving service improvements across a modern technology landscape.
You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience leading Platform Operations, Infrastructure, Application Support or IT Service Management teams.
- Strong knowledge of Incident, Major Incident, Change and Problem Management within enterprise environments.
- Experience delivering operational services across business-critical platforms with a focus on resilience, security and service availability.
- A track record of driving operational improvements, governance and service management best practices.
- Experience managing operational risk, suppliers and third-party service providers.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills, with experience coaching and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience balancing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Experience contributing to operational roadmaps, budgeting, resource planning and technology governance.
Desirable experience:
- Experience supporting SaaS platforms or software delivery organisations.
- Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration or operational oversight.
- Disaster recovery, operational resilience and business continuity planning.
- Working alongside Platform Engineering, Infrastructure or DevOps teams.
- Service reporting, KPI management and continual service improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of security, risk and compliance frameworks.
- Experience within regulated industries such as financial services or other highly governed environments.
