Play Space Designer

House of Play (Europe) Limited · Direct employer

Design the Spaces Kids Remember

This isn’t about drawing slides and colouring in foam.

This role is about imagining experiences, shaping environments where children climb, explore, challenge themselves, and lose track of time — and then turning those ideas into real, buildable, safe play spaces that work beautifully in the real world.

As a Project Designer, you’ll lead play environments from the spark of an idea through to manufacture and installation. You’ll blend creativity with technical thinking, visuals with practicality, and imagination with responsibility.

If you enjoy seeing your designs go from screen → workshop → site — this one’s for you.

What You’ll Be Creating

You’ll design across a broad mix of play environments, including:

  • Soft play systems
  • Indoor adventure and agility play
  • Sensory and inclusive play environments
  • Outdoor play installations

Each project is different. Each brief comes with its own constraints, opportunities, and creative challenges — which is exactly the point.

Your Mission

  • Create engaging, original play environments that excite children and reassure adults
  • Own projects from concept to completion — creatively, technically, and commercially
  • Communicate ideas clearly through strong visuals, layouts, and presentations
  • Design with manufacture, installation, and safety in mind (without killing the fun)
  • Deliver work you’re proud to put your name against

  • 3D AutoCAD
  • Rendering software (e.g. Twinmotion)

  • Ensure designs translate cleanly into manufacture and installation

Collaboration & Making It Real

  • Solve problems before they become site issues
  • Support production and installation teams with clear design intent
