About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a skilled and reliable Plumber to join the maintenance team at HMP Styal on an ongoing temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity to secure long-term work within a stable and unique environment, contributing to the maintenance and upkeep of essential facilities.Working as part of the Works Department, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of plumbing repairs, installations, and planned maintenance tasks across the prison estate, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive and planned plumbing maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair faults on plumbing systems and sanitary ware.
• Install and maintain pipework, fixtures, fittings, and associated equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Complete all work in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Accurately complete maintenance records and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with other trades and site personnel.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent qualification).
• Previous experience within domestic, commercial, or industrial maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
• Must be able to pass security clearance and vetting procedures required for working within a prison environment.
