As a Plumbing Lecturer, you'll deliver Plumbing programmes to 16-18 learners, adults, and some apprentices. You'll teach a mixture of practical and theory-based sessions, support learner progress, plan lessons, mark assessments, provide constructive feedback, and help students develop the skills and confidence required to succeed within the industry.

The ideal candidate will have a strong Plumbing background and be motivated by supporting learner success. You should ideally hold a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Plumbing, although Level 2 qualified candidates may also be considered depending on experience. Gas knowledge would be beneficial but is not essential. Previous teaching experience is desirable but not required, as teacher training and assessor qualifications can be supported.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Plumbing professional to transition into education, gain teaching qualifications, and play a key role in improving and developing a growing Plumbing provision.

The role:

  • Deliver Plumbing programmes to 16-18 learners, adults, and some apprentices.
  • Teach practical and classroom-based Plumbing sessions.
  • Support class sizes of around 18 learners.
  • Plan lessons, prepare resources, mark assessments, and provide learner feedback.
  • Support learner progress, achievement, and positive outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the Plumbing and Gas provision.
  • Help bring fresh energy, quality, and innovation into the department.
  • Full-time permanent position, 35 hours per week.
  • Typical hours around 8:30am - 4:30pm, with some evening delivery where required.
  • Time off in lieu provided for evening delivery.
  • Teacher training and assessor training supported where required.


The person:

  • Plumbing background essential.
  • Ideally Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Plumbing.
  • Level 2 qualified candidates may also be considered.
  • A minimum of a couple of years' industry experience.
  • Gas experience beneficial but not essential.
  • Teaching or assessing experience desirable but not essential.
  • Student-centred and motivated by learner progress.
  • Reliable, committed, and genuinely interested in working within education.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to support positive learner outcomes.
