About the Role

The Supply Register is proud to be working in partnership with Beckfoot Trust to recruit a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to support pupils at Hazelbeck School.

Hazelbeck School is a specialist provision for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), alongside complex needs including autism, sensory impairments, and communication needs.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education, where you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex needs to access learning, develop communication, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
  • Support pupils’ EHCP targets and personalised learning programmes
  • Assist with a range of communication strategies, including PECS, Makaton, and other alternative communication systems
  • Support sensory-based learning activities and engagement
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and wellbeing
  • Assist with personal care and physical support needs where required
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or adults with PMLD or complex SEN needs (education, care, or support settings)
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • A willingness to support personal care and medical needs
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
