Role Purpose & Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead PMO Specialist for a 6-month contract to drive operational excellence across a complex, multi-workstream transformation program. This is a traditional PMO leadership role focused on robust governance, structured reporting, and tight control frameworks.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic PMO practitioner who not only excels at maintaining controls, managing RAID logs, and delivering executive-level reporting, but who also genuinely enjoys mentoring, upskilling, and training team members and project leads on PMO best practices. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as you will navigate changing priorities across dynamic workstreams.
Key Responsibilities
Governance Frameworks: Establish, refine, and embed traditional PMO governance standards, controls, and assurance mechanisms across all active workstreams.
Reporting & Visibility: Own the end-to-end program reporting cadence; design, consolidate, and produce high-quality management information (MI), dashboards, and progress reports for executive stakeholders.
RAID Management: Maintain rigour around Risk, Assumption, Issue, and Dependency (RAID) management; actively challenge project leads to ensure risks and dependencies are correctly identified, monitored, and mitigated.
Mentoring & Upskilling: Act as a hands-on PMO coach; mentor, train, and upskill junior PMO resources, project managers, and workstream leads on governance standards, toolsets, and best practices.
Change & Standards Control: Oversee change control processes, quality gates, and milestone tracking across diverse workstreams.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with workstream leads, project managers, and senior stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and alignment with business objectives.
Flexibility & Support: Adapt quickly to shifting project needs, stepping in to support hands-on operational delivery where required.
Essential Experience & Skills
Proven track record leading PMO functions within complex, multi-workstream environments.
Deep expertise in traditional PMO discipline: RAID management, reporting, quality controls, and milestone tracking.
Strong passion for coaching, training, and upskilling teams to elevate organizational PMO capability.
Exceptional executive reporting capabilities with a knack for translating complex data into clear, actionable MI.
Highly adaptable and flexible mindset, comfortable managing ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
Outstanding communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
