About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Post Process Technician to join a busy manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for candidates who can hit the ground running and have previous experience working with castings, dressing, fettling, blasting, and post-processing operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for finishing and refining components to meet strict quality standards using a range of pneumatic hand tools, including grinders, burr tools, die grinders, sanding discs, and blasting equipment. Candidates with experience working in a casting house, foundry, manufacturing, engineering, or fabrication environment are highly desirable.
No formal qualifications are required; however, practical experience and the ability to demonstrate relevant skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out post-processing and finishing operations on cast and manufactured components.
- Perform dressing, fettling, deburring, grinding, sanding, blasting, and surface finishing activities.
- Remove excess material, surface imperfections, and defects while maintaining component integrity.
- Operate pneumatic hand tools safely and effectively, including:
- Grinders
- Die grinders
- Burr tools
- Sanding discs
- Blasting equipment
- Inspect finished components against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify and report defects, non-conformances, or quality concerns.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and health & safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with 5S principles.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to achieve manufacturing targets.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and product quality.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a post-processing, finishing, dressing, fettling, casting, foundry, fabrication, machining, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience using pneumatic hand tools, particularly grinders, die grinders, burr tools, sanders, and sanding discs.
- Experience working with castings and component dressing.
- Ability to follow SOPs, data cards, and work instructions.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
- Good manual dexterity and practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, adaptable, and capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience working within a casting house or foundry environment.
- Experience with blasting operations.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and quality inspection processes.
- Experience working with metal components or precision-engineered products.
- Background in aerospace, automotive, defence, heavy engineering, or industrial manufacturing sectors.

You'll be confident using grinders, sanding equipment, and blasting machinery, with the ability to consistently achieve high-quality results while maintaining excellent safety standards.
A practical skills assessment will form part of the interview process, so candidates must be able to demonstrate their hands-on capability and experience.
