Role Overview

Albany Beck is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support a leading London Market Insurance organisation on the development of enterprise reporting and analytics capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing Power BI reporting solutions using data sourced from a Snowflake enterprise data platform. This role requires a strong combination of technical development expertise and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work closely with business users to understand requirements and deliver meaningful reporting and insights. We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked within the London Market Insurance sector and have experience developing Power BI solutions on modern cloud-based data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualisations.
  • Build scalable reporting solutions using Snowflake and enterprise data platforms.
  • Develop data models, measures, calculations, and visualisations to meet business needs.
  • Optimise Power BI solutions for performance, usability, and scalability.
  • Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, reliable, and aligned to business requirements.
  • Work with enterprise and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Architecture teams on reporting requirements.
  • Translate complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Drive continuous improvement of reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Gather, analyse, and refine reporting requirements with stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions across business and technology teams.
  • Translate business requirements into effective reporting solutions.
  • Demonstrate and present reporting solutions to end users.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships across functions.
  • Support reporting and analytics delivery within transformation programmes.
  • Maintain solution documentation and adhere to governance and development standards.
  • Support testing, deployment, and post-implementation activities.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Power BI Developer in enterprise environments.
  • Strong expertise in Power BI dashboard, report, and visualisation development.
  • Experience using Snowflake as a reporting and analytics data source.
  • Strong knowledge of data modelling, reporting best practices, and large-scale data platforms.
  • Ability to gather requirements and engage effectively with business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within London Market Insurance or the broader insurance sector.
  • Knowledge of underwriting, claims, finance, exposure management, or insurance operations reporting.
  • Experience with cloud-based data environments, Azure platforms, SQL, and data querying.
  • Experience working alongside Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Data Governance teams, with a collaborative, proactive, and quality-focused approach.
