  • Perform circuit analysis, simulation, design reviews and technical investigations.
  • Oversee schematic capture and provide technical direction for PCB layout and design.
  • Ensure designs are optimised for performance, manufacturability, reliability and cost.
  • Support verification, integration, qualification and production activities.
  • Work closely with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers, contributing to the development of technical capability within the team.
  • Represent the organisation at technical reviews, customer meetings and programme discussions.
  • Investigate and resolve design issues identified during development, manufacture and field operation.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Significant experience designing electronic systems within a high-reliability, safety-critical or regulated engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of power conversion topologies.
  • Experience with magnetic component design and selection.
  • Strong knowledge of analogue and digital control systems.

  • Experience leading technical activities and influencing engineering design decisions.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as RS485, SPI, I²C, CAN or similar.
  • Strong understanding of component selection, derating, reliability and component lifecycle considerations.
  • Experience producing and reviewing schematics and technical documentation.
  • Good understanding of PCB design principles, layout supervision and design-for-manufacture.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work confidently with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative and capable of taking ownership of technical delivery within a fast-paced engineering environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Digital circuit design experience.
  • Wiring definition and harness design experience.
  • Experience using Altium Designer.
  • Previous experience working within defence, aerospace or another highly regulated industry.
