Anderson Knight is delighted to be partnering with our client to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Paisley.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to join a well-established organisation in a varied role within a busy and supportive finance team. You will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities while supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring financial information is accurate, timely and well controlled. Working closely with colleagues across finance, you will assist with month-end activities, reconciliations, reporting and ongoing process improvements. This position would suit someone looking to build on their existing accounting experience while continuing their professional development.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
• Complete bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Post journals, accruals and prepayments as part of the month-end close process.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are recorded correctly.
• Support the preparation of financial reports, analysis and management information.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities as required.
• Support purchase ledger and sales ledger functions during busy periods.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure records remain up to date.
• Assist with year-end processes and external audit requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance financial controls.
• Provide support on ad hoc finance projects and reporting requirements.
The Ideal Candidate Would Possess:
• Part-qualified or actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience within an Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer or similar finance role.
• Good understanding of month-end processes, reconciliations and accounting principles.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence using financial systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of responsibilities.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships across the business.
