An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced In-Vitro Regulatory Toxicology Scientist to join a leading scientific research and product development organisation focused on in-vitro and pre-clinical assessment.  This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced scientist to take a technically influential role within a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to advanced pre-clinical testing capabilities across in-vitro science, product development and regulatory toxicology.

You will provide technical expertise and scientific direction across in-vitro Regulatory and Genetic Toxicology, supporting pre-clinical research, product development and regulatory programmes. The role will suit an experienced toxicologist with strong hands-on laboratory expertise who can work independently, lead technical activities and collaborate with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in the development and application of in-vitro Regulatory Toxicology approaches.
  • Lead and execute in-vitro studies, delivering robust, reliable and scientifically defensible data.
  • Develop, optimise and apply Neutral Red, Ames and in-vitro micronucleus assays.
  • Apply complex cell culture, exposure techniques and biological testing methodologies to investigate product safety and potential human health effects.
  • Interpret experimental findings and bridge in-vitro data with analytical, human-use and clinical information where appropriate.
  • Provide technical direction for new testing capabilities, methodologies and assessment strategies.
  • Plan and deliver technical work programmes to agreed timescales, quality standards and objectives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Preclinical Science, Analytical Science, Toxicology, Clinical and Product Development.
  • Build relationships with external technical partners, CROs, academic groups and specialist consultants.
  • Support method transfer, validation and implementation of new technologies.
  • Ensure data is generated and managed in line with appropriate quality and regulatory requirements within controlled, quality-assured laboratory environments.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory methods, processes and scientific capabilities.
  • Prepare, author and peer-review scientific reports, technical documentation, regulatory materials, presentations and publications.
  • Support external scientific collaborations, including method transfer and inter-laboratory validation.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Degree, MSc or PhD in Biological Sciences, Toxicology, Pharmacology, Biomedical Sciences, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a related discipline.
  • Significant practical experience in in-vitro Regulatory Toxicology, Genetic Toxicology or pre-clinical area.
  • Hands-on experience with Neutral Red, Ames and/or in-vitro micronucleus testing.
  • Strong experience in complex cell culture, exposure techniques, biological assays and data interpretation.
  • Experience developing, optimising, transferring or validating in-vitro testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of relevant regulatory toxicology guidelines, including OECD, ECVAM and ICCVAM.
  • Experience within a controlled, quality-assured laboratory environment, ideally with GMP, GLP or GxP.
  • Ability to assess complex biological datasets using appropriate data analysis, computational or bioinformatics.
  • Experience contributing to regulatory submissions, scientific reports, technical documentation or external scientific communications.

Desirable

  • Experience in disease modelling, molecular toxicology or adverse outcome pathway frameworks.
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics, computational biology or advanced biological data analysis.
  • Experience with high-content screening, high-throughput assays or innovative in-vitro platforms.
  • Experience managing CROs, suppliers or scientific collaborations.
