Premises Assistant - Various Locations in London

We are currently recruiting reliable and hardworking Premises Assistants to support a network of schools across London.

£14.80 per hour | Weekly Pay | Various Shift Patterns | School-Based Roles Across London | Potential Permanent Opportunities.

This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for candidates with experience in caretaking, facilities, maintenance, site support, or building services. You will play a vital role in ensuring school buildings and grounds remain safe, secure, clean, and fully operational for pupils, staff, and visitors.

These are temporary ongoing opportunities with the potential to become permanent for the right candidates.

Due to the nature of these roles, applicants must hold a valid Enhanced Child DBS Certificate or be Happy to complete one as part of the application process.

These positions are based within educational settings and all successful candidates will be required to meet safeguarding requirements prior to commencement.

• Carry out basic maintenance, repairs, and general handyman duties.
• Perform routine inspections of buildings and grounds.
• Identify and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Assist with decorating, minor repairs, and general site upkeep.
• Ensure facilities are maintained to a high standard.

• Open and secure school premises in accordance with site procedures.
• Conduct routine security checks of buildings and grounds.
• Monitor contractors and visitors while on site.
• Assist with maintaining a safe and secure environment.

• Support compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
• Carry out routine safety inspections.
• Assist with fire safety procedures and evacuation arrangements.
• Report hazards and ensure corrective action is taken where required.

• Maintain playgrounds, pathways, car parks, and external areas.
• Assist with litter management and general tidiness.
• Carry out seasonal duties such as gritting pathways during adverse weather conditions.
• Support waste and recycling management across site.

• Set up rooms, halls, and equipment for events and school activities.
• Move furniture and equipment as required.
• Assist with deliveries and stock movements.
• Support the day-to-day operation of the school site.

• Valid Enhanced Child DBS Certificate (Essential).
• Previous experience as a:
  • Premises Assistant
  • School Caretaker
  • Site Assistant
  • Facilities Assistant
  • Maintenance Operative
  • Building Caretaker
  • Similar site-based role
• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Basic understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to undertake manual handling duties.
• Basic IT literacy.

• Experience working within schools, colleges, academies, or educational environments.
• IOSH Working Safely or similar Health & Safety qualification.
• Fire Marshal or First Aid qualification.
• Basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating, or maintenance experience.
• Experience managing contractors and site access.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
