Press Brake Setter/Operator

About the Role

Laser Expertise is looking for an experienced Press Brake Setter to join our growing manufacturing team. This is a hands-on role for someone who can confidently set and operate CNC press brakes, interpret engineering drawings and produce high-quality folded components to tight tolerances.

Working within a busy fabrication environment, you will be responsible for setting machines, bending a variety of materials and ensuring all work meets the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC press brake machines safely and efficiently.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Select the correct tooling and machine settings for each job.
• Produce high-quality folded and bent components to specification.
• Carry out first-off inspections and regular quality checks during production.
• Measure components using engineering measuring equipment including verniers, rulers and angle gauges.
• Adjust machine settings where required to maintain quality and accuracy.
• Work to production schedules and achieve agreed output targets.
• Identify quality issues and report any machine faults or production concerns.
• Ensure work areas remain clean, organised and safe.
• Follow all company health & safety procedures.
• Support colleagues and assist with other fabrication duties where required.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Previous experience as a Press Brake Setter / Operator.
• Experience setting and operating CNC press brakes.
• Confident carrying out bending operations on a range of materials and thicknesses.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Experience selecting tooling and programming or adjusting machine settings.
• Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances.
• Good understanding of fabrication processes.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Reliable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

• Experience with Amada, Bystronic, Trumpf or similar press brake machinery.
• Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
• Crane or lifting equipment experience.
• Fabrication or sheet metal background.
