SEN Teaching Assistant | Autism & Complex Needs | Lambeth, SW2 Are you a graduate with SEN experience looking to build your career within education, psychology, social care, or therapy?
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth (SW2) is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) from September. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Counsellors, and other professionals looking to gain valuable hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs.
About the Role You will be based within the school's ARP, supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of complex learning and communication needs. Working alongside experienced SEN professionals, teachers, therapists and school leaders, you will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.
Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and complex needs.
  • Support students with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes and interventions.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to support pupil progress.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
  • A graduate with experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
  • Passionate about working with children with autism and additional needs.
  • Patient, resilient and empathetic in their approach.
  • Keen to gain practical experience before pursuing further training or qualifications.
  • Interested in careers such as Educational Psychology, Social Work, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Teaching.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
