  About the Role

In this role, you will work within a specialised ALN class hosted inside a primary school. This position offers the perfect balance of focused, specialist support and integration into the wider school community. Working alongside teachers, the ALNCo, therapists, and other professionals, you will provide personalised support that enables children to achieve their individual goals. This is a varied and rewarding role where every day is different.

  Your Day May Include:
  • Delivering targeted one-to-one support for specific pupils.
  • Leading small group interventions to boost social and academic skills.
  • Assisting the classroom teacher within the dedicated ALN class.
  • Supporting learners within mainstream classrooms during integration periods.
  • Delivering personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Following Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
  • Using communication strategies such as PECS and visual timetables.
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and social development.
  • Encouraging independence and essential life skills.
  • Assisting with personal care and manual handling where required.
  • Supporting pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and educational visits.
  The Children You Will Support You will support pupils aged 3–11 years with a wide range of Additional Learning Needs, including:
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Complex communication needs
  • Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Children who benefit from structured routines, visual supports, and alternative communication methods.

  Essential Requirements
  • Experience supporting children or adults with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including English and Mathematics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  Desirable Qualifications & Experience
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent).
  • Degree qualification.
  • Additional ALN training.
  • Manual Handling certification.
  • PECS training.
  • Team Teach certification.
