Primary Teacher - Alternative Provision (Temp to Perm)

Tradewind Recruitment

A supportive and forward-thinking Alternative Provision (AP) in Clitheroe is seeking a resilient, compassionate, and committed Primary Teacher to join their team immediately on a temp-to-perm basis.

You will work with primary-aged learners (Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2) who face barriers to learning, including SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, trauma, ADHD, and ASD. In this role, small class sizes (typically 4-8 pupils) and dedicated teaching assistants allow you to focus on differentiated delivery, relational behaviour management, and core progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, highly adapted primary lessons across the national curriculum.

  • Foster a calm, de-escalating classroom environment using trauma-informed and positive behaviour support techniques.

  • Assess and monitor individual learning milestones, contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) reviews.

  • Collaborate closely with SENCOs, teaching assistants, educational psychologists, and parents to support holistic development.

  • Create a secure, structured space where pupils who have struggled in mainstream education can rebuild confidence.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or recognised equivalent primary teaching qualification.

  • Proven experience teaching KS1/KS2 within a UK mainstream primary school, PRU, AP, or SEN setting.

  • Strong classroom and de-escalation skills; training in Team-Teach, MAPA, or CPI is advantageous (or willingness to complete training).

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to undergo one immediately).

  • Full eligibility to work in the UK.

Package & Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £33,000 (pro-rata during the initial temporary placement).

  • Smooth, guaranteed transition into a permanent school contract following a successful probationary period.

  • Exceptionally small class sizes with strong 1:1 and 2:1 TA support ratios.

  • Ongoing SEN and pastoral CPD opportunities.

  • Free on-site parking in Clitheroe.
