The Role – Primary Teacher – Merton

We are looking for a committed and passionate Primary Teacher to join a primary school in Merton as soon as possible, with the opportunity for a long-term placement.

You will play an important role in supporting pupils' academic progress and personal development by delivering high-quality lessons and creating a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment.

Working alongside other members of the school team, you will encourage pupils to participate in lessons, develop their independence and build a genuine enthusiasm for learning. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, well-organised and confident meeting the needs of a diverse range of learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum.

• Teaching primary-aged pupils across the relevant key stage.

• Establishing clear classroom routines and maintaining positive behaviour.

• Adapting lessons and resources to accommodate different learning abilities.

• Assessing and monitoring pupils' progress, identifying areas for development.

• Providing additional guidance and support to pupils who need extra help.

• Encouraging participation, confidence and independence throughout the school day.

• Creating a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.

• Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and colleagues to support pupils' learning.

• Communicating effectively with the wider school team regarding pupil progress and development.

The successful candidate must hold QTS and have previous experience teaching within a primary school. They should be passionate about education, confident in their classroom management and committed to helping every child reach their potential.
