Smile Education is currently recruiting for Qualified Primary Teachers to support a welcoming and well-established Multi-Academy Trust with several mainstream primary schools across Burton upon Trent.

Whether you are an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to build valuable classroom experience, returning to university, reducing the commitments of a full-time role, or simply wanting to fit teaching around other responsibilities, day-to-day supply teaching could be the perfect opportunity.

Due to increasing demand across the Trust, we are seeking enthusiastic, adaptable, and reliable teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to provide cover across a variety of year groups. Opportunities are available from 1 to 5 days per week, allowing you to work around your own availability.

Cover requirements can arise for a range of reasons, including staff absence, training courses, additional funding provisions, and extra classroom support, helping schools continue to deliver high-quality learning experiences.

The RoleAs a Day-to-Day Supply Teacher, you will:
  • Deliver engaging lessons across Nursery to Year 6
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour management
  • Adapt quickly to different classroom environments
  • Follow school policies and procedures
  • Work independently and use your initiative to ensure learning continues effectively
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils
Essential RequirementsTo be considered for this role, you must:
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – no other teaching qualification will be accepted
  • Have recent experience teaching within a UK primary school setting
  • Be confident covering classes from Nursery through to Year 6
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
  • Be able to work independently and use your own initiative
  • Be available for day-to-day supply work
  • Be open to receiving morning calls for same-day cover assignments
  • Be able to travel to schools across the Burton upon Trent area
  • Be available to work school hours of 8:15am – 3:30pm
  • Provide a minimum of two professional references covering the last two years, including comments on your interaction with children
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new DBS through Smile Education
