Primary School Teaching Assistant – Watford
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school on a temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and is looking to build a long-term career within a supportive school environment.
As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence and build independence. You will work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
Requirements
- Previous UK-based experience supporting children with special educational needs is essential.
- A caring, patient and adaptable approach.
- A commitment to supporting pupils' learning, wellbeing and development.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
- Confidence in adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of each pupil.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.
- Work alongside teachers and support staff to deliver tailored learning activities.
- Support individual learning and behaviour plans.
- Encourage pupils' social, emotional and academic development.
- Help maintain a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
- Promote independence, confidence and engagement with learning.
- Adapt activities to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum.
