Long Term Futures are recruiting a Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Barking for an immediate start.

This is a varied Primary Teaching Assistant role with opportunities to work across KS1, either providing general KS1 classroom support or working more closely with pupils who require SEN support.

The school is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who can adapt depending on the needs of the class. You may work with the whole class, deliver small-group interventions or provide targeted SEN support on a 1:1 basis.

The Primary Teaching Assistant position is initially offered on a one-year fixed-term contract, providing excellent stability for someone looking to develop their experience within a Barking primary school.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work as a Primary Teaching Assistant supporting pupils across KS1
• Provide general KS1 classroom support alongside the class teacher
• Deliver 1:1 and small-group SEN support where required
• Support KS1 pupils with phonics, literacy and numeracy
• Adapt activities for children with SEN and additional learning needs
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence and engagement
• Work closely with teachers and the SEN team to monitor pupil progress
• Help maintain a positive and inclusive KS1 classroom environment

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with primary-aged children
• Experience supporting KS1 pupils is highly desirable
• Previous SEN experience would be a strong advantage
• Understanding of KS1 phonics, literacy and numeracy
• A patient, enthusiastic and proactive approach
• Confidence providing both general classroom and SEN support
• A genuine interest in developing within primary education

• Accessible via Barking Station - District, Hammersmith & City, Overground and C2C
• District Line connections via Upney and Becontree
• Strong bus connections throughout Barking and Dagenham
• Easily accessible from Ilford, Dagenham, Newham, Romford and surrounding East London areas
