We work with children who may be educated other than at school, awaiting a suitable placement, or in need of additional personalised support. Tuition is usually delivered on a 1:1 basis and is tailored to the needs, ability and circumstances of each child.

We are interested in tutors with strong primary experience who can support core learning across areas such as English, Maths, phonics, reading, writing, communication, confidence and engagement. The successful tutor will be able to provide a nurturing, flexible and child-centred approach, building positive relationships and delivering engaging sessions that support progress and re-engagement with education.

The role may involve:

  • Travelling to children's homes and/or suitable community settings

  • Planning and delivering personalised learning activities

  • Using creative, practical and interest-led approaches to support engagement

  • Supporting confidence, communication, routine and positive learning habits

  • Adapting sessions to suit each child's needs, ability and emotional readiness

  • Supporting children who may have SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety, EBSA, or gaps in education

  • Working professionally with parents/carers and relevant professionals

  • Keeping brief records of session content, attendance, engagement and progress

Essential requirements:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children

  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum

  • A patient, nurturing and flexible approach

  • The ability to plan engaging, personalised learning sessions

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for children

  • The ability to travel to in-person tuition sessions in and around Bridgwater

  • The legal right to work in the UK

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applicants who do not meet this requirement.

Please also note that this is not an online tutoring role. Applicants must be available for in-person tuition in Bridgwater and the surrounding areas.

Qualified Teacher Status would be highly desirable, particularly for referrals requiring a qualified teacher. We would also welcome applications from experienced tutors, instructors or education professionals with strong primary experience.

Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS certificate and be able to provide suitable references.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide personalised, face-to-face support to children who need a flexible, understanding and engaging approach to learning.
