Inside IR35 – Initial 6–12 month contract.
Location and Working Pattern
Hybrid working from Birmingham, Reading, Leeds, or Manchester offices, with site travel as required for National Highways PTSI programmes, including night and day shifts.

Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of small to medium work packages, including inspection, assessment, design, and renewal schemes
- Provide technical leadership, checking, and approval on designs, calculations, and reports
- Offer mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, developing team capability
- Act as a key liaison with clients and multidisciplinary project teams
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, specifications, and governance processes
- Contribute to planning, risk management, and commercial compliance
- Attend sites on an ad-hoc basis for PTSI programmes, including night or day shifts
- Provide on-site supervision for PTSI activities in line with CS 465, ensuring accurate event logging and compliance
- Produce PTSI interpretative reports following site supervision
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE or MIStructE)
- Significant experience with post-tensioned concrete bridges
- Strong background in bridge or structural design, assessment, and asset management
- Proven ability to lead technical delivery on major projects
- Knowledge of relevant design codes and analytical methods
- Effective communicator comfortable working across multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience with Local Authority or rail-related structures
- Familiarity with asset management systems and inspection regimes
- Previous experience as CRE, checker, or design lead
- Understanding of National Highways standards and procedures
