We're recruiting for an experienced Principal C&I Engineer to support the delivery of major nuclear projects. This is a long-term contract offering hybrid working, a competitive £60 per hour (Outside IR35) rate, and the opportunity to work on complex, safety-critical engineering programmes.
The Role
You'll lead C&I design activities across the full project lifecycle, providing technical leadership, managing multidisciplinary interfaces, reviewing and approving designs, and mentoring engineers to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the required standards.
Essential Experience
- Extensive C&I engineering design experience across the full project lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (IEC 61511 & IEC 61508).
- Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
- Knowledge of instrumentation installation in hazardous/explosive process environments.
- Understanding of ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive and EMC Compliance.
- Knowledge of engineering risk management and HSE requirements.
- Experience with project reporting, KPIs, change management, risk and opportunity reporting.
- Good understanding of UK regulations, including CDM.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
- Nuclear or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Valid Safety Passport or equivalent.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
