The Role

As a Principal Engineer, you will lead the delivery of feasibility studies and develop options for roof refurbishment of Building B314, a crucial facility on site. Your responsibilities include managing technical activities, coordinating cross-disciplinary teams, and providing expert guidance to ensure the successful completion of remedial works aligned with the project specifications. You will oversee project progression from initial design through to delivery, ensuring compliance with safety standards and security requirements, all while maintaining operational continuity and minimal disruption.

Your daily activities will involve leading technical reviews, developing innovative engineering solutions, engaging with stakeholders, and providing mentorship to junior engineers. You will also be responsible for overseeing project schedules, budgets, and ensuring all statutory and regulatory standards are met.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Proven extensive experience in civil, structural, or architectural engineering with a minimum of ten years influencing engineering practice and outcomes.
  • Experience working within highly regulated industries, with at least five years in the nuclear sector preferred.
  • Expert in engineering design, delivering large or complex projects from feasibility to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage technical aspects of significant work packages.
  • Academic qualifications such as a Bachelor’s Honours degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline, coupled with Chartered status or equivalent.
  • Ability to attain or hold SC security clearance, including P4 or P1 pass.
  • Familiarity with Sellafield site operations or similar high-security environments is desirable.
