Principal Design Engineer (Contract)

Location: Leeds

We are seeking an experienced Principal Design Engineer to provide technical leadership on major infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

Key Requirements:

• 10+ years' experience in structural, temporary works, tunnelling, or infrastructure design.

• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, steel structures, foundations, retaining walls, and underground structures.

• Experience delivering designs to Eurocodes and UK standards.

• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary design teams and design assurance processes.

• Chartered status (ICE or IStructE) preferred.

• Experience on major UK infrastructure programmes desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Lead permanent and temporary works design activities.

• Review and approve technical calculations, drawings, and design deliverables.

• Coordinate with geotechnical, construction, and engineering teams.

• Support bids, technical governance reviews, and client engagement.

• Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering best practice.
