The Opportunity

Our client is an award winning independent environmental consultancy with an established reputation for delivering high-quality environmental solutions across a diverse range of major development and infrastructure projects.

Due to exciting project wins and continued growth, they are looking for experienced Principal EIA Consultants to join their growing teams in Leeds and Bristol.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious environmental professional to take a leading role on high-profile projects across sectors including transport, renewable energy and infrastructure, while working alongside a highly experienced, multidisciplinary team.

The Role

As a Principal EIA Consultant, you will play a key role in coordinating environmental inputs for major EIA projects, supporting clients from the early stages of strategy and feasibility through to design, consenting and the discharge of planning conditions.

You will work closely with internal technical specialists, designers, clients and external consultants to ensure environmental considerations are embedded into project design and decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include leading and coordinating complex, multidisciplinary EIA projects, managing environmental inputs into major infrastructure and development proposals, and providing strategic environmental advice throughout the project lifecycle.

You will prepare and manage EIA screening and scoping documentation, consultation materials and Environmental Statements, while working across a range of consenting projects including, Development Consent Orders (DCOs) and Town and Country Planning.

About You

We are looking for an experienced EIA professional with a strong understanding of environmental assessment and UK consenting processes.

You will ideally have:

  • A relevant degree-level qualification and significant experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary EIA projects, with a strong understanding of UK EIA legislation and consenting processes.
  • Broad technical knowledge across key environmental disciplines, alongside excellent report writing, communication and technical review skills.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, including experience managing budgets, deadlines and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proven experience engaging with clients, stakeholders, regulators and project partners, with the ability to coordinate specialist technical inputs effectively.
  • Experience managing, mentoring or overseeing junior colleagues, as well as contributing to bids, fee proposals and business development activities.
