An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Geoscientist to join a specialist geoscience consultancy based in Oxford.
The consultancy works across a range of technically challenging projects, providing specialist geological, geotechnical and environmental advice to clients across the UK and internationally. This is a senior opportunity for someone looking to take a leading role in project delivery, technical development and client management.
The Role
As a Principal Geoscientist, you will be involved in a varied portfolio of projects, providing high-level technical expertise and supporting the delivery of complex geoscience investigations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading geoscience and ground investigation projects from planning through to completion.
- Providing specialist geological and geoscientific advice to clients.
- Planning and managing ground investigations and site works.
- Interpreting geological, geotechnical and environmental data.
- Preparing and reviewing technical reports and factual and interpretative deliverables.
- Managing projects, budgets, programmes and client relationships.
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior and developing consultants.
- Contributing to proposals, tenders and business development activities.
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Supporting the continued development of technical standards and best practice within the business.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced Geoscientist, Engineering Geologist or Geologist with a strong technical background and consultancy experience.
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geoscience or a related subject.
- Significant experience within a geoscience, engineering geology or ground engineering consultancy.
- Strong experience in ground investigation and geological interpretation.
- Experience managing projects and working directly with clients.
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
- The ability to provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced colleagues.
- A commercially aware approach and an interest in supporting business development.
- A full UK driving licence.
Chartered status, or a willingness to work towards chartership, would be advantageous.
