Job Title: Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Durham, Northallerton or Otley (on a hybrid basis)
Salary: Up to £60,000pa depending on experience
We are recruiting on behalf of a growing organisation seeking an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to take a leading role in the delivery of complex ground engineering and infrastructure projects.
With sites across the North, this person has the possibility to be based in their offices in Durham, Northallerton or Otley on a hybrid basis.

Key Responsibilities
As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will lead geotechnical and engineering geology projects from planning through to delivery. Responsibilities include overseeing ground investigations, interpreting ground conditions, producing high-quality technical reports, delivering geotechnical design solutions, managing project budgets and programmes, and providing technical leadership to project teams. You will also support business development activities and help build strong client relationships.
Requirements
The successful Principal Geotechnical Engineer will have:
- A relevant degree and MSc in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Significant consultancy experience in geotechnical or engineering geology projects.
- Chartered status (or equivalent) with at least 5 years' post-chartership experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK ground investigation standards and geotechnical design.
- Experience leading teams, managing projects, and maintaining commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication skills and a full UK driving licence.
