Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 DOE
Location: London

An established consultancy is looking for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their London team. This is a senior technical position offering the opportunity to lead complex geotechnical projects, provide technical expertise and support the development of junior engineers.

You'll take a leading role across a variety of geotechnical projects, from ground investigation and design through to construction, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing complex geotechnical projects
• Reviewing ground investigation information and developing ground models
• Undertaking and reviewing geotechnical design calculations
• Foundation, retaining wall and earthworks design
• Slope stability and settlement assessments
• Producing and reviewing geotechnical interpretative reports
• Providing technical input into ground investigation specifications
• Liaising with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams
• Reviewing technical work and providing guidance to junior engineers
• Supporting fee proposals, tenders and business development
• Managing project budgets, programmes and technical deliverables

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
• Significant experience within UK geotechnical consultancy
• Strong technical knowledge across geotechnical design and ground investigation
• Experience with Eurocodes and relevant British Standards
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
• Strong report writing and client-facing skills
• Experience mentoring and technically supervising junior staff
• Full UK driving licence
