The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in residential building services design looking for the flexibility of a fully remote role?

A fast-growing and ambitious building services consultancy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of a substantial portfolio of residential developments across the UK. As a senior member of the business, you will take ownership of project delivery from concept through to completion, ensuring innovative, sustainable, and commercially successful solutions are delivered to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects, with a primary focus on residential developments.
  • Manage projects through all stages, from feasibility and concept design through to construction and final handover.
  • Produce and review detailed calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the business.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, architects, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical and commercial standards.
  • Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Champion sustainable and energy-efficient engineering solutions across all projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with client expectations.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience within a building services consultancy environment.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience delivering residential building services projects is essential.
  • Proven track record of leading projects and managing client relationships.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical design principles, and relevant UK regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently within a fully remote environment.
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
