The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading engineering consultancy for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their Building Services team in Motherwell. This hybrid position offers the chance to lead significant projects, influence technical delivery and play a key role in the ongoing growth of a well-established engineering business.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Lead the design and specification of mechanical building services systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations and project requirements.
  • Take ownership of project delivery, managing programme performance, budgets, resource allocation and technical quality.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, project teams and key stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and technicians, supporting their development and performance.
  • Promote best practice, quality assurance and compliance across project teams and engineering activities.
You will have the following qualifications and experience
  • Chartered status with CIBSE, or demonstrable progress towards professional chartership.
  • Strong background delivering mechanical building services projects within sectors such as commercial, industrial, defence, nuclear, healthcare or life sciences.
  • Extensive experience designing HVAC and public health engineering systems within a consultancy environment.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical concepts effectively and develop long-term relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Experience using industry-standard tools such as Navisworks and NBS Create/Chorus, with additional experience of Revit, AutoCAD or IES considered advantageous.
