Principal OT Cybersecurity Consultant
Location: AWE, Reading
Contract: 12 months
Rate: Negotiable
Clearance: Active UK DV clearance – mandatory

Deliver secure operational technology systems that protect critical national infrastructure. This contract opportunity is ideal for an experienced OT Cybersecurity professional who thrives on solving safety‑critical challenges and guiding complex, regulated transformation programmes. You’ll be working within a world‑leading nuclear environment, ensuring digital resilience across industrial control systems.

Location and Working Pattern

This role is on-site at AWE, Reading. Given the level of clearance required, on-site presence is essential to meet project and security requirements.

Client Overview

Our client is a leading organisation operating in the nuclear and defence sectors, delivering vital national security programmes supported by advanced engineering and cyber expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of secure OT / ICS cybersecurity architectures.
  • Conduct and oversee cybersecurity risk assessments and assurance activities.
  • Apply industry and regulatory standards, including IEC 62443, NCSC CAF, NIS Regulations, and ONR Security Assessment Principles.
  • Support security accreditation processes and liaise with regulators and senior stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership across OT cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Contribute to bids, solution development, and client relationship growth across CNI, nuclear, and defence sectors.
Must‑have Requirements

  • Significant experience in OT / ICS cybersecurity, architecture, and risk management.
  • Expert understanding of IEC 62443, NCSC CAF, NIS Regulations, and ONR SAPs.
  • Proven background within safety‑critical, regulated, or high‑hazard environments.
  • Demonstrable consulting experience with strong client‑facing and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Active UK DV clearance (essential).
Nice‑to‑have Skills

  • Recognised certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or GICSP.
