Principal Planning Officer

Our client in the North West is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Planning Officer on an agency basis for a 12-month contract, focusing on the management of Planning Performance Agreements (PPAs) and major planning applications. This is a key role supporting service continuity and the delivery of strategic growth priorities.
Rate: £60-65 per hour (Umbrella)
Office presence:Hybrid - approx once a week (key meetings, committee)
Role Overview:
·Lead the full lifecycle of PPAs, including negotiation, setting milestones, and ensuring compliance
·Act as the main point of contact for developers and internal stakeholders on all PPA matters
·Manage major planning applications linked to PPAs, coordinating both internal and external teams
·Oversee financial aspects of PPAs, including income tracking, invoicing, and reporting
·Support service improvements and promote best practice across the team
Key Requirements:
·Extensive experience handling major planning applications and PPAs
·Strong project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities
·Ability to work autonomously and meet statutory timescales
·Solid understanding of planning legislation and local authority processes
