Principal Structural Engineer

An established, independently owned engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to lead its Structures team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and commercially aware engineer who enjoys leading people, building client relationships and delivering high-quality structural engineering projects. Reporting directly to the Associate Director, you'll play a pivotal role in the continued growth and success of the Cardiff office.

Joining a collaborative and highly respected multidisciplinary team, you'll have the opportunity to shape the direction of the Structures team while leading a diverse portfolio of projects across multiple sectors. This is a genuine leadership role, offering autonomy to develop client relationships, mentor and grow the team, manage resources and oversee project delivery from concept through to completion. You'll work closely with senior leadership, influence business development activities and help drive the continued expansion of the Cardiff office.

What You Need To Succeed

• Significant structural engineering experience within a UK consultancy environment.
• Proven experience leading structural engineering projects from concept through to completion.
• Previous experience managing or mentoring engineers and coordinating team resources.
• Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build and maintain lasting professional relationships.
• Experience in the design of a range of structural materials, including steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
• Proficiency in industry-standard structural analysis and design software.
• Excellent communication, organisational and commercial awareness with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Chartered Engineer status with the IStructE/ICE, or close to achieving it.
• A strong academic background with a BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
