Principal Telecoms & Security Engineer

The role spans traditional oil and gas, as well as energy transition projects including CCS, hydrogen and other low-carbon infrastructure. Offering significant technical autonomy and international project exposure, you'll work across greenfield and brownfield developments while mentoring engineers and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
The Role:
- Perform detailed engineering calculations including optical link budgets, voltage drop calculations, and other technical analyses, ensuring accuracy and quality to support design activities.
- Prepare, review, and check Telecommunications & Security (T&S) engineering deliverables including philosophies, specifications, block diagrams, architectures, cable schedules, CCTV and PA/GA coverage studies, BoM, and MTOs.
- Support the design and integration of T&S systems by assisting with block diagrams, cable routing, control room layouts, equipment room layouts, and field equipment location drawings.
- Ensure engineering designs comply with company, local, and international standards, regulations, safety requirements, environmental processes, and quality assurance procedures.
- Carry out technical bid evaluations, participate in design reviews, FATs, inspections, SATs, and liaise with telecoms and security system suppliers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including I&A, ICT Telecommunications, and Security, while supporting project planning, budgeting, technical coordination, and site activities.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Professional accreditation preferred.
- Proven knowledge and understanding of Telecommunications & Security (T&S) requirements across conventional oil and gas, carbon capture, and renewable energy sectors, with the ability to apply industry standards and best practices to complex projects.
- Experience delivering T&S engineering solutions for large industrial facilities, gained through design, operations, maintenance, or project execution roles, with a strong understanding of system lifecycle requirements.
- Experience working on both onshore and offshore projects, with knowledge of the engineering challenges, safety requirements, and operational considerations associated with different project environments.
- Experience producing and reviewing T&S engineering documentation, including system philosophies, specifications, architectures, drawings, cable schedules, and other technical deliverables.
- Practical experience participating in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), with knowledge of equipment inspection, vendor coordination, and verification of systems against project requirements, with SAT and commissioning experience being advantageous.
