Location: South East England
Rate: £450-£550 per day
Contract: Initial 6-month contract, with potential to extend
Working Pattern: Full time
Hybrid Working: 3 days on-site / 2 days remote
The Role
Park Avenue are currently working with a local authority in the South East who are seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Manager to lead and shape a newly integrated housing service during a period of significant organisational transformation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an established Private Sector Housing Manager to join the leadership team responsible for bringing together two established housing functions, creating a unified service, driving performance, and supporting the transition towards local government reorganisation.
You will play a key role in establishing a one-service ethos, embedding best practice, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality private sector housing and regulatory services across the authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Private Sector Housing Team through a period of service integration and change.
- Drive performance management, service improvement, and operational excellence.
- Oversee the delivery of Private Sector Housing functions, including enforcement, compliance, and regulatory activities.
- Provide strategic leadership and operational direction to managers and officers.
- Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, elected members, external agencies, and partner organisations.
- Support the implementation of a shared regulatory service model and future organisational structures.
- Ensure services are delivered in line with legislation, corporate priorities, and customer expectations.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Manager who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience managing Private Sector Housing services within a local authority environment.
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation, enforcement powers, and regulatory services.
- Proven leadership experience, including managing change and service transformation.
- Excellent performance management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to operate strategically while maintaining oversight of operational delivery.
- Experience working within politically sensitive environments.
