Process Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Process Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of projects within the hygienic process industry, taking responsibility for process engineering activities from initial concept and quotation through to commissioning and handover.

You will play a key role in delivering innovative and cost-effective process solutions, collaborating closely with customers, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop process engineering solutions from quotation stage through to commissioning.
  • Value engineer process designs to ensure competitiveness and efficiency.
  • Estimate process engineering hours for project planning and reporting.
  • Liaise directly with customers to develop process concepts and detailed designs.
  • Produce Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment schedules, and instrumentation schedules.
  • Generate Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
  • Perform detailed process calculations including mass balances, utilisation studies, and KPI assessments.
  • Develop and maintain standard calculations, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Specify and assess specialist process and utility equipment, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and pressure systems.
  • Conduct design risk assessments and support HAZOP studies.
  • Carry out site surveys for plant upgrades and integration projects.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with company quality standards and project lifecycle procedures.
  • Attend and contribute to project meetings throughout the delivery cycle.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Customer Acceptance Testing (CAT).
  • Develop commissioning programmes and produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Complete pre-commissioning inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Optimise process performance during product trials.
  • Deliver training to customer engineers and operators.
  • Execute validation activities including DQ, IQ, OQ, and PQ documentation.
  • Maintain and update site documentation, including P&IDs, schedules, and engineering records.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Process Engineer, ideally within the hygienic process industry.
  • Strong knowledge of pressure vessels and pressure systems.
  • Experience developing and interpreting P&IDs and PFDs.
  • A solid understanding of process engineering principles, standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to overcome complex design challenges.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to present design solutions and lead client discussions.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project delivery team.
  • Excellent written English and technical report-writing skills.
